I was having a conversation with Jimmy today and I asked "Am I being a bad parent?" He said, "You arent a parent yet."
I told him that I disagree with him. Perhaps he isnt a parent yet, I can go with that. He is like a quasi-absent father. He created the baby and there really isnt much he HAS to do until the baby arrives.
Parenting Magazine says:
Parenting is the raising and nurturing of children in a way that empowers them to lead a better, safer and secure life. But when does the responsibility of the parent actually start? And when does it really end?In my opinion, the responsibility starts before the birth of the child. In fact, it starts even before the conception! And the shocking reply to the second question is - it never ends!
So I, in fact, am a parent already. I am 100% responsible for that face on the ultrasound. I am responsible for it's nutrients, it's oxygen, it's safety, it's future...already.
I can choose to play music on my belly now to enrich it.
I can choose to listen to what it has told me about it's dislike of ice cream and it's love of fish.
I am already MOM.
